RSS active for Fadnavis in Nagpur: Ambedkar's party made the path difficult for Congress, BJP will benefit if votes are lost.

Assembly elections are held in Maharashtra on 20 November. Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis is contesting from Nagpur South-West seat for the fourth time. In front of him, Congress has again expressed confidence in Prafulla Guddhe. Prakash Ambedkar's Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) is also in the fray. The party has made Vinay Purushottam its candidate.

Devendra Fadnavis has been continuously winning from this seat. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh had already started preparing the land for them. What is the attitude of the voters towards the party and candidates on this high profile seat, what are the local issues here. Dainik Global News Daily reached Nagpur South-West to know this.

First of all the political equation of the seat… Nagpur Lok Sabha constituency has 6 assembly seats. Out of 6 seats, 4 are with BJP and 2 with Congress. The most important is the South-West seat of Devendra Fadnavis. This seat came into existence in 2009. Since then, assembly elections have been held thrice. Devendra Fadnavis won all three elections on BJP ticket.

In the last two elections, the victory margin remained around 50 thousand votes. Congress has been at second position in all three elections. Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi was the third party.

This time the contest is between Devendra Fadnavis and Prafulla Guddhe. In 2014 also both of them were face to face. At that time Fadnavis had won by 58,942 votes. In 2019, Congress changed its candidate and gave ticket to Ashish Deshmukh. Devendra Fadnavis won this time by 49,344 votes. This margin was less than in 2014, but they managed to retain their seats.

Now let's talk about voters… People said – Fadnavis became Chief Minister, but forgot Nagpur First of all we reached Subhash Nagar Chowk, which falls in Fadnavis' assembly constituency. Here people were sipping tea outside Shitala Mata temple. We met Pawan Bankar. He belongs to Dalit community and lives in Tugdiji Nagar. Pavan is troubled by increasing unemployment.

It was here that we met auto driver Prahlad Shinde. There are 4 people in the family of 57 year old Prahlad. Everyone's responsibility rests on him. In the last 5 years, he has seen the functioning of both the governments and he has no complaints with both. He says, 'Change of government was fine, but I want that the BJP government should be given a chance once again.

At the same time, 62-year-old Kokate believes that there has been development in Nagpur in the last 5 years, but it has not happened as per expectations. He says, 'Fadnavis won from Nagpur, also became the Chief Minister, but forgot Nagpur.' We wanted to know from Kokate what was lacking. On this he says, 'There is no cleanliness, during the rains many places get filled with water.'

After this we met some workers at the IT Park. He does painting work in houses and did not seem happy with Fadnavis. People believe that there is a tough fight between Fadnavis and Congress candidate Prafulla Gudhe.

Now let's talk about experts… RSS has been active for many months to ensure victory of Fadnavis. Senior journalist Sudhir Pathak, who keeps an eye on the functioning of RSS, believes that RSS is not only active in this election, but is also in the field to make Devendra Fadnavis win the elections. RSS workers had gathered several months ago to make people aware about voting and to ensure victory for Fadnavis.

He says, 'This time in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP had given the slogan of crossing 400. Because of this, people became confident about BJP's victory and became relaxed. At that time, party supporters did not come out of their homes, hence the results were not as per the party's wish.

Sudhir further says, 'RSS people constantly live among the people. He goes to people and helps them. Stands with them in difficult times. In such a situation, they develop a different connection with people. Then it is not easy to deny his words and in this spirit people are forced to accept his words.

Caste equations will create problems, Fadnavis will benefit from the schemes To know the political situation of Nagpur South-West seat, we talked to senior journalist Shrimant Mane. He says, 'Fadnavis has a strong hold on this seat. During the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra, Congress's slogan of Save Constitution and Caste Sense strengthened the opposition. Because of this, the caste equations here may be a bit challenging for Fadnavis.

'The same factors can prove beneficial for Congress candidate Prafulla because the number of OBC voters is high in this seat.'

Shrimant Mane further says, 'Devendra Fadnavis will get the benefit of the schemes run by his government. A large section of women have benefited from Ladli Brahmin. This will be in his favor in the elections. The schemes started for laborers will also prove beneficial for Fadnavis.

'Along with this, his political image will also make him safe. There are challenges for them, but not too many. Yes, he will have to work on his seat.

Fadnavis remained in the role of CM in 2014. Now he is handling the responsibility of Deputy CM. According to Shrimant, he will benefit from this in the elections also.

On the question of Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi candidates contesting the elections, Shrimant believes that national politics is becoming bipolar. The results of Maharashtra will also come in the same way.

He says, 'Here too the contest is between Mahavikas Aghadi and Mahayuti. The third political party is not going to have that much impact. Voters will not pay much attention to them. Now things are no longer the same as before. Secular voters have also understood that if they vote for him, BJP will directly benefit from it.

VBA's role is only to cut votes, it will harm Congress. Prakash Ambedkar's Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) is also in the contest here. The party has made Vinay Purushottam its candidate. His posters and publicity are also visible at various places in the city. We also tried to talk to Vinay, but could not talk due to his busy schedule in the campaign.

Regarding the role of VBA in the elections, senior journalist Gawande says, 'Prakash Ambedkar's main role has been only to cut the votes of Congress and Mahavikas Aghadi.'
