Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha has announced his retirement from all formats of cricket. 40 year old Saha is considered one of the best wicketkeepers of India.
Taking to social media platform X, he said that the current Ranji Trophy season will be his last tournament. He has expressed his gratitude to Bengal Cricket for the wonderful journey in cricket. Saha played his last international match in 2021 against New Zealand at Wankhede.
As a wicketkeeper, Saha has taken 92 catches and 12 stumpings in 40 matches of Test cricket.
This Ranji season is my last-Saha
Reminiscing about his cricket journey, Saha said, 'After a memorable journey in cricket, this Ranji season will be my last. I feel honored to finally represent Bengal for once. Will play only Ranji Trophy before retirement.

Played 40 tests for India
Wriddhiman Saha has played 40 tests for India. In which 1,353 runs have been scored at an average of 29.41. Saha has also scored 3 centuries and 6 half-centuries in Test cricket. He is known for his wicketkeeping skills.
After the retirement of MS Dhoni, Saha was India's wicket-keeper batsman in Test cricket. Saha is third after Dhoni and Rishabh Pant in terms of centuries scored by Indian wicketkeepers in Tests.
Did not register in mega auction
Saha is certain to play for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy, but he will not be seen playing in the IPL next year. Gujarat Titans has not retained him in the recently released retention list. Saha has also not registered for the mega auction.
Saha has been a part of every season since the first IPL-2008. In the league, he scored 2934 runs in 170 matches at a strike rate of 127.57. This includes one century and 13 half-centuries. Apart from this, he has also played nine ODIs for India, in which he scored 41 runs at an average of 13.67.
In IPL, he has played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, Punjab Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans.
Played Ranji Trophy for Tripura last season
Saha, who played for Bengal in first-class cricket for almost 15 years, played Ranji for Tripura last season. Saha had to leave the Bengal team due to a dispute with an official of the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). However, after talks with former India captain and former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, Saha decided to return to Bengal.
Saha played for Tripura in the 2022-23 Ranji season.
